Don’t leave capturing your final years of high school up to an iPhone and Instagram!
Capture these once in a lifetime moments with the help of a professional.
A skilled, experienced professional photographer makes their job look seamless. You will experience a fun, relaxed session without ever realising that every minute Mel is looking for the best light, the best angle, the best setting that will suit you, she won’t settle for second best. That’s the advantage of using a professional – there’s no sacrifice on quality!
A professional shoot is an unforgettable experience. But don’t take our word for it! Our Meloo Model Student Ambassadors say their shoots have helped them realise their inner beauty. Read their testimonials here.
Parents – was the last professional photo of your family taken in a Pixie studio? It’s time to update those photos! As parents we know that what your kids are going through right now is pretty special, and no one has played a bigger role in their lives than you. The Meloo Model Student portrait experience is all about celebrating this time, and creating an experience that you can share with your kids and remember with quality timeless prints that you will love. The photos can make uniquely personal gifts for grandparents and other family members too!
Who can I bring to my session?
Your parents are absolutely encouraged to be at the session and share in your day. We can provide high tea as an added touch, and for girls and their mums it’s a fantastic girly outing that you’ll always remember. Guys it’s not all just about the girls, we have you covered from a casual afternoon shoot by the beach to ???
You can bring a friend if you like, sometimes it can help you relax if you have someone familiar behind the camera to look at. However, we can’t include your friend, your session is just for you – so why not book a mini BFF session to add onto your shoot? The two of you will have gorgeous shots to keep forever.
We ask that you bring no more than two people, to keep your experience intimate, personal and efficient.
Do you do packages for groups of friends?
Yes, we can create packages for groups of friends. For the best photographic result however, we recommend no more than seven in the group.
Contact us to find out more about what kind of package will suit you.
Where and when do you shoot?
Mel loves to shoot on location and use the beauty of late afternoon natural light for portrait sessions. The list of location ideas is endless and it is very important to us that your session takes place somewhere that has meaning to you.
Mel caters to Brisbane and the surrounding area. Let us know if you have a special location in mind, or if you have no idea, together we can come up with the perfect spot. South East Queensland is spoilt for choice with beaches, rural areas and city streets only a couple of hours drive in any direction.
In Spring and Summer we take bookings from 2pm onwards and in the cooler months from 1.30pm onwards, to maximise the afternoon light after hair & make up is all sorted in the Studio.
What should I wear?
A very important question! Depending on what type of session you’ve booked you will have time for at least three wardrobe changes at your shoot.
Before your shoot, in the pre-session consultation, we will talk about wardrobe and decide on a few looks. You’ll be given some tips and suggestions in your welcome pack, but most importantly you should wear clothes you feel comfortable in. If you’re fidgeting and adjusting your clothes throughout the shoot this will come through in your photos. So choose clothes that you love, that flatter and fit you and make you feel confident.
Keep in mind that the camera picks up and highlights details that the naked eye doesn’t normally pay attention to. Bold patterns and prints can be distracting – the focus of the photo should be on you! Follow our Pinterest boards for ideas and looks.
Your hair and make up is included in the sessions. If you’re thinking of getting a haircut, we recommend you don’t do this the day before your session, aim to do this about a week beforehand.
How long will it take?
Anywhere from two to four hours, depending on your session. This includes make up, hair, driving to location and then actual shoot time. You can expect to be in front of the camera for about two and a half to three hours of the time you have booked.
How much are your sessions?
Head to the information & investment pages for more details on each of the sessions and their costs. Please keep in mind your booking fee for each session is for the photography experience only. Costs for ordering prints, canvases and other products are discussed at your Premier Ordering Session.
As a guide, the average client spends between $800 and $2,000 for the custom photography experience.
What kind of atmosphere can I expect when I’m working with you?
Fun! Your session should be relaxed, enjoyable and importantly, all about you. Our sessions are collaborative – if you have an idea for a pose or location let me know and we’ll try it! Your photos should reflect your unique personality.
Parents and guardians, we like to have fun and help our participants enjoy the shoot, however we are very serious about safety and rights. We will not put any of our clients in physical danger and are mindful throughout the shoot of our surrounds, including people who may be watching.
Do you provide electronic versions of the photographs for me so I can post them online or email them to friends and family?
Immediately after your shoot we’ll send you a Facebook sneak peek – one image from your shoot in electronic form so you can post it online or email to friends and family.
When you’ve ordered your prints we’ll provide you with electronic “negatives” of the shots you’ve ordered, however prints must be ordered, we don’t provide electronic versions only.
Can I take my own photos at the shoot?
Sorry, we don’t allow this. The custom session we’ve created for you is based on Mel’s artistic vision and expertise and we need to protect her intellectual property. But we’re not total fun police – before we get started you can take a selfie and show it off on social media as a “behind the scenes” sneak peek. We’ll then ask everyone to turn their phones and cameras off so we can focus on your shoot and you can enjoy letting Mel take control of the lens.
When will I receive my print products?
Usually up to three to four weeks. This is the standard time required so Mel can provide you with the best possible custom art. Mel puts just as much time, creativity and thought into post-processing and producing your images as she did at your shoot. Your photos will be edited to bring out the best in you in a natural and genuine style.
Recommend us and get rewarded with a bunch of swag to brag about! We’ll soon be launching a rewards program that encourages our clients to post about their fantastic experience with Meloo Model Student on their online networks. The more you tweet, retweet, repost and regram our services, the more you’ll be able to earn in rewards dollars that will come off the cost of your shoot. You’ll also receive a grab bag with a free Hello Gorgeous t-shirt, nail polish and other fun bits and pieces.
Contact us for more information about the rewards program.
Will my photos end up on your website?
We love to showcase the results of our shoots on our website. However, weare safety conscious about our clients’ images and the Internet. A standard model release form is included in the portrait agreement and all clients’ parents and guardians are asked to sign.
Only images signed with a release will be shared online, either on the Meloo Model Student website, our Facebook page or Instagram feed. It is a legal form, therefore the signatory must be 18 years and over.
